About Tough Bunnies

Tough Bunnies is a project from Michael Hayashida, a songwriter based in Maine. The music is an eclectic mix of rock-based genres, often using horns, vocal harmonies and Manchester sound guitars. If Mark Ronson threw a dinner party for the Stone Roses, and The Sundays crashed it, and the whole thing was catered by They Might Be Giants, Tough Bunnies might be on the dinner playlist.

Michael came of age during the glorious reign of 1980s college bands and has often been in one band or another since the '90s, particularly Bold Riley, an acoustic group he still performs with. Bold Riley led to a friendship with Jud Caswell, one of the premier musicians and recording engineers in Maine. Meanwhile, Michael's youngest daughter, Tessa, has grown up into one of Maine's best young soprano voices. Tough Bunnies was born out of the recording sessions Michael and Tess did with Jud at his recording studio, Frog Hollow Studio.

"Here Comes The Physics" single

"Here Comes The Physics" is the latest single from Tough Bunnies. It's a power pop song with an explosive chorus that describes climate change from the carbon atoms' point of view.
